The open pores allow the wood to retain its natural elasticity in your home and leave the natural texture exposed. Although a hardwax oil finish requires more maintenance from the client, there's nothing to wear down as you continuously feed the pores more oil . Film based finish
The standard finish in the majority of homes is the film based finishes. These finishes lay on top of the wood sealing all pores of the wood. As it dries it hardens it leaves a protective shell on top of the wood and with normal cleaning, this finish will last for years . With everything in the flooring industry, finishes are designed to wear down over time, with a buff and recoat every 3-5 years.
